Home Office

March 31
13:51 2023

The government has committed to provide further remedy to people employed as retained firefighters between 7 April 2000 and 5 April 2006, by giving them the opportunity to purchase their pre-July 2000 service and have this included in their pension entitlement.

To do this, were consulting on amendments to:

  • the Firefighters Pension Scheme (England) Order 2006

  • the Firemens Pension Scheme Order 1992

Were seeking views on:

  • the amendments
  • whether they achieve the policy intention for all eligible people
