This report presents the findings from an independent evaluation of the Safer Streets Fund round 2. The fund consisted of 20 million made available in year ending March 2022 to tackle neighbourhood crime in disproportionately affected residential, rural and commercial areas through the delivery of situational crime prevention interventions.
The evaluation included a quantitative impact evaluation, which examined the initial impact on neighbourhood crime and residents perceptions of their local area in funded versus comparable non-funded areas. Whilst the qualitative process evaluation identified the key drivers and barriers of successful delivery whilst providing intervention level insights, through interviews and case study research.
The evaluation also re-assesses the impact from the first year of the Safer Streets Fund and makes recommendations to the Home Office and police and crime commissioners to maximise impact.
