A public consultation is seeking views on a proposed Southern North Sea demersal non-quota species FMP.

The Southern North Sea demersal non-quota species (NQS) FMP is being developed by the Marine Management Organisation (MMO).

The FMP will be prepared and published to meet the requirements set out in the Fisheries Act 2020.

Species

The Southern North Sea demersal NQS FMP will include important demersal (bottom-living) species without agreed catch limits (quota), including:

  • cuttlefish
  • grey gurnards
  • red gurnards
  • tub gurnards
  • John dory
  • lesser spotted dogfish
  • octopus
  • smoothhounds
  • squid
  • surmullet

Areas covered

The FMP will cover English waters within International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) divisions 4b and 4c.
