The uses of the evidence extend beyond the East Marine Plan replacement, however. The primary objective of the project was to produce high resolution fishing activity maps of <12m fishing for vessels with a home port in the east marine plan areas. The secondary objective was to investigate the sensitivity of different gear types to different stages of offshore wind development. MMO contracted Poseidon and AVS to undertake eight workshops with fishermen across the east marine plan areas, applying participatory mapping and sensitivity analysis methods to produce a report including a suite of maps. The report is a representative (not exhaustive) analysis of <12m fishing activity in the east marine plan areas so the data should be used accordingly with the appropriate caveats described in the limitations section.
