Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission
Mr. Christopher Fisher has been appointed as the new Chair of the Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission for a three year term beginning on 1 March 2016. The appointment is unpaid. Christopher Fisher currently serves as chairman of Bank of Ireland UK, the financial services partner of the Post Office and the AA; as a non-executive director of SEGRO, the FTSE 200 industrial property company; as chairman of the Council of the University of Reading; and as chairman of the Imperial War Museum Development Trust. His past appointments include working as a managing director at Lazard, the investment bank; as a senior partner at Penfida, the corporate finance adviser to pension scheme trustees; and, for six months, as chairman of Southern Cross Healthcare. He is a Kennedy Scholar (1976-78) and a graduate of the University of Reading and of the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
The Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission (MACC) administers the British Marshall Scholarships, which finance young Americans of high ability to study for a graduate degree in the UK. Up to forty Scholars are selected each year to study at graduate level at an UK institution in any field of study. As future leaders, with a lasting understanding of British society, Marshall Scholars strengthen the enduring relationship between the British and American peoples, their governments and their institutions.
