Course aim
To enable delegates to understand apply the requirements of RA 1010: head of establishment aviation responsibilities and aviation duty holder / accountable manager (military flying) establishment responsibilities and RA 1026: aerodrome operator and aerodrome supervisor (recreational flying) roles and responsibilities.
AOSP objectives
- Head of Establishment (HoE) responsibilities: understand the requirement to provide a SOE through RA 1010
- Aerodrome Operator (AO) responsibilities: enable delegates to understand how to comply with RA 1026
- Effective assurance: understand the importance of assurance to support Aviation Duty Holders (ADHs) air system safety cases and how to deliver it
- Aerodrome operators hazard log: know how to compile an effective hazard log, capture the risks appropriately, understand transference and management
- Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) assurance: awareness of understanding why the CAA have interest in activities on military aerodromes
- Infrastructure support: a discussion to understand what Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) should provide in support of a SOE
- Defence Fire Safety regulator: understanding what the Capita Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting provision provides and how it works
- Programme MARSHALL: receive a brief on the latest progress of the MARSHALL upgrade
- Defence Air Investigation Branch (DAIB): receive a brief regarding post crash management responsibilities
- Defence Airspace Air Traffic Management (DAATM): understand the process of aeronautical information assurance
Applicability
This training is targeted at existing and prospective AOs and HoEs.
Prerequisites
Personnel should familiarise themselves with the following pre-reading:
- RA 1010: head of establishment aviation responsibilities and aviation duty holder / accountable manager (military flying) establishment responsibilities
- RA 1020: aviation duty holder - roles and responsibilities
- RA 1026: aerodrome operator and aerodrome supervisor (recreational flying) roles and responsibilities
- RA 1030: defence aeronautical information management
- RA 1400: flight safety
- RA 1430: aircraft post crash management and significant occurrence management

Courses will be delivered at the Centre of Air Safety Training (CoAST), Defence Academy, Eisenhower, Shrivenham.

The closing date for applications is 10 weeks prior to the course start date and applications received after this date will not be accepted.
Once received, applications will be added to the waitlist and scrutinised approximately 9 weeks before the course. All candidates will be notified of the outcome with successful candidates receiving joining instructions approximately 8 weeks prior to the course.
