Mission Motorsport: The Forces Motorsport Charity event
On Friday 27 September, Mission Motorsport held their invitational event at the Goodwood Motor Circuit. Participants were able to ride around the historic circuit and engage with friends and supporters of the charity.
Over 160 beneficiaries attended, including members of 25 charities and community organisations. Among them were Fighting with Pride, Blind Veterans UK, the Royal Hospital Chelsea, and the Taxi Charity for Military Veterans.
James Cameron, Mission Motorsport CEO, said:
The Mission Motorsport invitational is a wonderful event of which we are very proud, and 2024 saw the largest-ever gathering of armed forces communities at Goodwood Motor Circuit thanks to the support of sponsors like Thakeham and an army of volunteers. Im particularly proud that 25 charity and community organisations attended, all bringing beneficiaries. The connections made will have impact long after the adrenaline of the day has worn off.
Weve such a track record of luck with weather, but we can now officially update Roy Salvadoris quote: Give me Goodwood on a rainy morning, and it is still absolutely fabulous.
Veterans Orthopaedic Service
The Veterans Orthopaedic Service (VOS) treats both serving and veteran patients. Many patients are initially referred and treated while on active duty, but they remain under review after retirement, which provides essential continuity during transition to civilian life.
Established in 2013 by Lt Col Meyer, who serves as the Clinical Director, the VOS is the first of its kind within the NHS. Operating at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Specialist Orthopaedic Hospital, the service has received full backing from the hospital trust and board, and has functioned without external direction or support.
