The guide to applying for non-financial restorative measures explains the non-financial restorative measures available for veterans of the Ban, who served between 1967 and 2000.
To make it easier to apply, the restorative measures have been separated into two sections:
1. new restorative measures a result of the LGBT Veterans Independent Review.
2. pre-existing restorative measures available before the LGBT Veterans Independent Review.
New restorative measures
New restorative measures refer to the measures that have been implemented as a result of the LGBT Veterans Independent Review.
If you are eligible, two application forms can be completed depending on who is applying:
- Form for anyone directly impacted by the Ban for veterans and serving personnel who served between 1967 and 2000.
- Form for a Person of Sufficient Interest for a Person of Sufficient Interest to a deceased veteran who served between 1967 and 2000.
The processing time for applications depends on the measures youre applying for. All applicants should be contacted by Defence within six months of applying. Unfortunately it will not be possible to provide updates on applications before this point.

Pre-existing restorative measures
Pre-existing restorative measures refer to measures and services that were already in progress or available before the LGBT Veterans Independent Review was published. This means they have different application processes to the new restorative measures.
