New Trustee Appointed to The National Gallery

Andrew Marr

Appointed for a four year term which commenced on 12 February 2024.

Andrew Marr was born in Glasgow in 1959 and educated in Scotland - at Dundee High School, Craigflower in Fife and Loretto in Musselburgh. He gained a first class degree in English at Trinity Hall, Cambridge and worked as a newspaper journalist in Edinburgh for The Scotsman, before becoming a political journalist at Westminster for the same newspaper, and then the Independent, The Economist, the Observer and the Daily Express .

He was editor of The Independent from 1996-98 and political editor of the BBC from 2000-2005, Before hosting both Radio 4s Start the Week and BBC Ones Sunday morning The Andrew Marr Show until 2022. From here, he joined LBC for Tonight with Andrew Marr and became political editor of The New Statesman.

He is the author of 13 books, ranging from fiction to history, politics, art and poetry; and of numerous documentary series. He has painted all his life and had solo exhibitions of work in Edinburgh, Liverpool, London and Venice. He is married with three adult children and lives in Primrose Hill, London.
