National Infrastructure Commission
At Autumn Statement 2023, the Chancellor announced that he is commissioning the National Infrastructure Commission to undertake a study into connected and autonomous vehicles and mobility.
The study focuses on the policy interventions needed to ensure connected, autonomous, and self-driving technologies deliver economic growth across the UK.
The NIC would make recommendations on whats required to enable the country to pursue a pathway towards wider-spread adoption of CAV technology and realise the potential benefits, considering the uncertainty about technological development, the role of both physical and digital infrastructure, and network management. Thestudyshould provide a final report in around twelve months, with an interim report due to be published in the summer of 2024.
