If you need a licence as part of a conservation translocation, you must use the conservation translocation licence application form.

This licence allows you to kill, take, disturb or possess a protected species when carrying out:

  • surveys
  • research for scientific or educational purposes
  • conservation work

You can also trap stoats to prevent them damaging livestock.

You can carry out these actions using licensable methods listed in section 10 of the application form A30. These methods are prohibited without a licence.

You must apply for this licence if your activity affects:

Use a separate form for crayfish surveys.

References

You need to give references when you apply for this licence if:

  • you have not held a licence for the species or a similar species for the last 3 years
  • you want to use methods for which you have not previously been licensed

How to report your actions

You must report any actions you took using this licence on the report form (LR30) on this page. You must report no later than 2 weeks after your licence expires, even if youve taken no action. Send your completed form by post or email to Natural England using the details on the form.
