Guidance: Diabetic eye screening: audit schedule

Nhs England

September 27
15:43 2024

The audit schedule describes the minimum specific audits required to be completed by each local diabetic eye screening service on a regular basis.

Each item identifies the requirement for that audit within national guidance, service specification or quality assurance pathway standards.

Where no national guidance on frequency is available, a recommendation is provided. Audits that are part of routine programme management and failsafe are not included. Where applicable, data for audits can be extracted using fields available in programme performance reports (PPRs).

Providers should develop and agree an annual audit schedule in conjunction with their commissioners, documenting which specific audits the local service will undertake. This may include audits not listed in this document. Audit findings and resulting actions should be presented in an appropriate governance forum, for example programme board or operational group.
