Alun Cairns will today (Friday 2 December), welcome Secretary of State for International Trade, Liam Fox to Wales. They will visit major defence company Airbus and later meet business leaders to discuss the important role that Wales plays as part of the UKs strategy for boosting exports and inward investment.

Alun Cairns said:

As we prepare to leave the EU the Welsh economy is in a robust position. In fields ranging from aerospace to agriculture and steel to financial services, the Welsh economy has acquired an international reputation for excellence.

Wales has come a long way in terms of exporting, with that market now worth 12.6 billion.

While Europe is a key market for Wales, non-EU countries including Singapore, Qatar and Japan all feature in the top 10 destination for Welsh exports with the USA remaining Wales largest market.

The UK Government is committed to doing all it can to support businesses. Business leaders are the experts in creating wealth and jobs - we stand ready to do all we can to help them succeed globally.
