Office of the Secretary of State for Wales
The call has come from Secretary of State for Wales Alun Cairns, who today threw his weight behind the annual Small Business Saturday Campaign.
Mr Cairns said:
I always try to shop on my local high street and use traders in the area. From butchers to bakers, fashion shops to fine arts, we all rely on small traders to provide colour and choice.
Wherever you live in Wales, I encourage you to go out this Saturday and explore the fantastic variety of local businesses you find on your doorstep. That visit to a boutique you pass by may yield a great bargain and support a local job.
Minister Guto Bebb will also be out on Saturday (December 3) to support the small business economy of North Wales.
The small business sector employs half a million people in Wales through more than 220,000 companies.
Alun Cairns took part in last years Small Business Saturday which across the UK boosted sales by a quarter with 623m going through the tills.
