Details

The RPC provides independent scrutiny of the impact assessments accompanying new regulatory and deregulatory proposals. The RPC was appointed as the independent verification body (IVB) in respect of the business impact target (BIT) for the 2019 to 2024 Parliament.

The Government are required by the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Act 2015 to set a BIT for each parliament and to report annually on progress against the BIT. The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy published the Governments report covering the third year of the current Parliament on 16 January 2022.

This RPC response to that report in our role as IVB provides an overview of the departmental and regulator measures introduced during that period.
