Brians public service to the UKHO has been prolific and sustained over 41 years, from his years as a skilled mapping and charting officer to his current role in Human Resources. During this time he has shown a passion for UKHOs mission to protect lives at sea as well as compassion for his colleagues. In this in particular he has demonstrated a longstanding and selfless devotion to Trade Union work, as TU Chairman for 25 years, which has contributed distinctively to ongoing good working relations.
Chief Executive Ian Moncrieff said Brian is a wonderful example of fine citizenship in public service and wider society. He has committed a huge amount of personal time and always goes the extra mile for the benefit of others. His stalwart dedication and positive intervention in trade union work has supported harmony and excellence in this workplace. He has helped make UKHO a great place to work and the 1000 people onsite to find career satisfaction in public service.
Brians work extends into his local community he has been Chairman of Comeytrowe Parish Council for 16 years and was a long standing governor at the Castle School.
Commenting on his appointment as Member of the British Empire Brian said I am delighted that my work has been recognised not just for myself but for my family who have supported me throughout my career.
