Details

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), working with Wilton Park, hosted a conference with participation from the governments of Somalia and Niger, donors, climate finance providers and humanitarian agencies. The conference explored how countries can more effectively access international climate adaptation finance, and use it to address climate-related drivers of humanitarian need.

The FCDOs Second Permanent Under Secretary, Nick Dyer, chaired a meeting which informed recommendations for attendees to consider, as well as some specific recommendations for participating agencies. These aim to improve collaboration amongst important climate, humanitarian and development organisations to enable vulnerable countries to:

  • improve access to climate adaptation finance
  • increase their capacity to use it to build resilience and adapt

The recommendations will feed into, and inform, planning for the COP28 Summit, as well as contribute to progress on climate adaptation finance in the longer term.

The full report of the conference will be published on the Wilton Park website.
