Approved Finishing Units (Enhanced) with grazing (AFUE) provide a route for cattle keepers to rear, fatten or finish animals at grass from both TB-restricted and unrestricted farms. These units must follow strict biosecurity conditions and there are restrictions on the age of cattle that can be sourced.

AFUEs can only be approved in the High Risk Area of England.

Calves from TB-restricted farms aged 42 days old and over must have had a tuberculin skin test with negative results before moving to an AFUE.

Cattle in AFUEs must be TB tested every 90 days.

The guidance documents explain the terms and conditions for the approval and operation of an AFUE.
