Details

This set of revised standards and guidance, introduced in 2017, includes a new Appendix 4 which covers changes to:

  • Standard 6: Site inspection
  • Standard 7: Communications and records

to improve transparency and availability of site inspection records to building owners.

The new Appendix 4 and revised Standards 6 and 7 come in to force on 1 April 2017 in respect of building work where an initial notice, building notice or full plans application has been given on or after 1 April 2017.

The Building Control Performance Standards Advisory Group (BCPSAG), a subcommittee of the Building Regulations Advisory Committee, has drawn up a set of building control performance standards. These help ensure that the competition between local authorities and approved inspectors does not drive down standards and also encourages consistent application of building control functions between building control bodies.BCPSAG keeps the standards and guidance under review to help ensure that they continue to meet customer expectations.
