Head of the Centre for Defence Enterprise, Andy Nicholson, introduced CDE and gave an overview of proof-of-concept research funding opportunities for innovative science and technology providers. View the presentation slides.
The Ministry of Defences Chief Digital Information Officer, Mike Stone, launched a themed competition for fully funded contracts (up to 250,000 available for phase 1) on open-source big data insight. View the presentation slides.

In addition, technical experts from the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) gave an overview of some areas where innovative research ideas are sought for CDEs ongoing enduring challenge competition. Leo Borrett, Dstl Capability Adviser, talked about big data science and technology challenges within the countering terrorist networks programme at Dstl. View the presentation slides.

Attendees were able to pre-book a face-to-face meeting with CDE, Dstl and military experts to discuss potential proposals to either the enduring challenge competition or the open-source big data insight themed competitions.
There were opportunities to meet other potential bidders, current Dstl suppliers, CDE, Dstl and military experts.
