Head of Operations, Jim Pennycook, introduced CDE and give an overview of proof-of-concept research funding opportunities for innovative science and technology providers. See the presentation slides.
James Allibone and Paul Winstanley introduced the UK Defence Solutions Centre (UKDSC). See the presentation slides.
There were themed competition briefings by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) and UKDSC on:

Both of these themed competitions have up to 1 million available for phase-1 projects, with at least 1.25 million available for phase 2. These CDE themed competitions are in association with UKDSC, as part of the Defence Growth Partnership (DGP) Innovation Challenge.
Gemma Moxham, CDE Competition Manager, talked about how these UKDSC competitions differ from some other CDE competitions and summarised the important information bidders need to know. See the presentation slides.
At the event Bruce Hardie, CDEs Technology Manager, gave an overview of some areas where innovative research ideas are sought for CDEs ongoing enduring challenge competition. See the presentation slides.

Attendees were also able to book face-to-face meetings with CDE, UKDSC, Dstl and military experts to discuss potential proposals to either of the themed competitions detailed above.
There were opportunities to meet other potential bidders, CDE, Dstl, MOD, defence industry and military experts.
