The Fund

The Fund is an annual initiative which sees teams of fast streamers on the Civil Service Generalist scheme compete to raise the most money for various charities. This year, the Fund participants volunteered 1,390 hours of their time, managing to raise an impressive 100,833.50 for charities such as Parkinsons UK and CentrePoint. Fundraising activities ranged from art exhibitions to bake sales, fun runs to marathons and even, in the case of Team Kangaroo, a Scottish Cilidh dance! After reviewing each teams charitable activities, the Fast Stream Fund Team eventually agreed on the winners of the 7 team awards and 2 individual awards. The winners were invited to the 2014 Fund Award Ceremony on 15 September at the Emmanuel Centre. The awards were presented by guest speakers including Dame Julia Cleverdon, Special Adviser to The Prince of Wales on responsible business practices, and Peter Unwin CB, Chief Executive of the Whitehall and Industry Group.

The winners were as follows:

Overall Winning Team Award Team Kangaroo who raised a staggering 9,342.76 including money raised and time banked.

Team Award for Creativity & Innovation Team Kangaroo

Individual Award for Engagement Rachel Tuckett

As well as having fun and raising money and awareness for their chosen causes, the Fund also provided the fast streamers with an opportunity to develop as individuals, gaining new skills and a better understanding of the wider responsibilities of the Civil Service and their roles as its future leaders.
