Overview
ITT providers awarded accreditation in 2022 are eligible to apply for an additional grant of up to 20,000. This grant will support ITT providers to establish new partnerships in geographic areas identified by the department.
What the grant can be spent on
We will assess your application against the eligibility criteria set out in the funding for new partnerships guidance.
Activities you could use the grant for include:
- IT costs (for example, aligning two different IT systems)
- additional administration requirements associated with partnership development
- additional quality assurance costs
- legal costs
The partnership grant cannot be spent on:
- travel
- hospitality
- marketing or advertising
- website development or maintenance
- consultancy
You will have until 28 March 2023 to spend the grant and submit a claim form.

Reporting and accountability
Providers who choose to spend grant funding on ineligible activities will be liable for grant clawback.
We will collect expenditure information as part of the financial assurance process on 15 March 2023 and on 14 July 2023.
Conditions of funding
There will be 2 conditions of funding, in addition to the standard grant terms and conditions.
- Youre required to establish new partnerships to recruit trainees in specific geographic areas identified by DfE. Partnerships will only be eligible for funding if they are formed with either a provider who was accredited prior to the reform, or lead partners of existing ITT providers. These providers must be offering ITT provision in one of the eligible areas listed in Annex A of the grant guidance.
- Youre also required to maintain any other existing ITT provision (for example, Early Years or Further Education ITT) that you, or your lead partners, deliver alongside ITT courses leading to qualified teacher status (QTS).
