An electric vehicle chargepoint grant (also called an EV chargepoint grant) is money you can get towards installing a chargepoint at your property.
If youre a landlord or run an organisation that rents out, leases or manages a residential property, you can use this service to:
- apply for an EV chargepoint grant
- manage your current EV chargepoint grant applications
Youll need to register for an EV chargepoint grant account before you apply.
What you can get
If your application is successful, youll get either 350 or 75% off the cost to buy and install a chargepoint, whichever amount is lower.
You can get up to 200 grants for chargepoints on residential properties each financial year (6 April to 5 April).
These can be on the same property or different properties.
Who can use this service
You can use this service if youre a:
- landlord with property to let
- right to manage (RTM) company
- residents management company (RMC)
- company or person owning the freehold of a property
- company owning a buildings common areas, including shareholders who are the leaseholders
- property factor in Scotland
- private registered provider of social housing (PRP)
- public sector organisation - for example a government department, local council, the armed forces or the NHS and emergency services
- charity that manages or owns residential property
You must also:

check that your property qualifies for an EV chargepoint grant

hire an authorised chargepoint installer to do the work
Who cannot use this service
You cannot use this service if youre:
- getting a chargepoint for a property you live in - your installer will apply on your behalf
- a chargepoint installer applying on behalf of a customer - theres a different way for installers to apply or manage your applications
Register for an EV chargepoint account
Youll need to register for an account before you can apply for an EV chargepoint grant.
Youll need both of the following to register:
- a UK mobile phone to get a security code
- an email address
Youll also need one of the following:
- a Companies House company registration number
- a VAT registration number
Its faster to register with a Companies House company registration number.
Sign in to apply and manage your applications
After youve registered, you can sign in to:
- apply for EV chargepoint grants
- manage your previous applications
To apply for a grant, youll need:

your chargepoint installers Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) number - ask your installer for their number

details of the property youre installing the chargepoint at

the number of chargepoints youre installing
After you apply
Once the application is approved, your installer will be notified and can start the work.
Your installer must either complete the work within 90 days of your application being approved or request an extension. If they do not, youll need to apply again to get the grant.
Claiming the grant
Your installer can claim the grant on your behalf after the work is completed.
Youll get an email asking you to sign into your online account and review the claim. If its incorrect, youll have a week to respond - youll be told how to do this when you review the claim in your account. If you do nothing, the claim will be submitted to OZEV.
If the claim is approved, the amount given to your installer by the grant scheme will be taken off your bill.
