Register to book theory tests

You must be registered to book tests. Youll get your Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) business ID, username and password when you register to book.

Book and manage theory tests online

Youll need your:

  • username
  • password
  • credit or debit card
  • pupils driving licence number if youre confirming their details

Before you start

You can book the following types of test:

  • car
  • motorcycle
  • lorry and bus, including the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) part 1 (theory), part 2 (case studies) and conversion tests

Book without a pupils details

You can book tests up to 6 months in advance. You do not have to give a pupils details when you book. This is known as being a trainer booker.

You must confirm the pupils details at least one full working day before the test. Working days do not include Sundays and public holidays.

Example

Confirm the pupils details by Wednesday if the test is on Friday.

Change or cancel a test

You can change or cancel a test up to 3 full working days before the test. Monday to Saturday count as working days but Sundays and public holidays do not.

If you cancel a test at short notice

You can cancel a test within 3 full working days but youll have to pay again. Find out when you can get a refund if you cancel a theory test at short notice.
