You need quota, quota authorisations or quota delegations to import quantities of F gas equivalent to 100 tonnes or more of carbon dioxide (CO2) in a calendar year. This applies to:

  • bulk F gas
  • equipment pre-charged with F gas

If youre importing F gas in bulk and you do not have enough quota, contact an incumbent quota holder to agree a transfer of quota.

If youre importing equipment pre-charged with F gas, you should contact either:

  • an incumbent quota holder for quota authorisations
  • an authorisation manager for quota delegations

Read guidance on how to import, export or manufacture equipment pre-charged with F gas.
