Minister of State for Development and Minister of State for Women and Equalities Anneliese Dodds, as the UK Governor to the World Bank Group, alongside the Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves, as the alternate Governor, made a statement to the World Banks Annual Meetings Development Committee in Washington DC on 25 October 2024.

While recognising the progress made by the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, the statement calls for a reformed global financial system that delivers a fairer deal for developing countries.

It outlines the UKs vision for a bigger, better and fairer global financial system that helps more people, with a focus on fragile states and conflict zones. The statement also calls for the biggest ever International Development Association (IDA) replenishment and reiterates the UKs commitment to increasing its pledge.
