The following guidance provides an overview of the payment scheme, what costs are claimable and how to calculate your fee:

Apply for an account

Advocates should have an active legal aid account in order to apply for payment. If you are a solicitor, solicitor-advocate or barrister with an existing legal aid account, you should claim for payment under that account.

If you do not have a legal aid account, the guidance below will help you apply for an account. You must apply for an account in advance of submitting any claim for payment.
