Marine Accident Investigation Branch
Today, we have issued a safety bulletin on the importance of installing and maintaining safety critical systems to comply with the approved classification standards and in accordance with relevant guidance.
This is the second bulletin to be published in connection to our investigation into the auxiliary engine room fire on board Finnmaster in September 2021. The first bulletin, published in March 2022, focused on the separate safety aspect of potential manufacturing defects within the CO2 system.
This accident remains under investigation and the detailed causes and circumstances will be published in an investigation report in due course.
