Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency
The Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD), jointly funded by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), provides anonymised longitudinal patient data for public health research. To date, over 1,500 published studies have used CPRD data for research. MHRAs Yellow Card Scheme collects information on suspected problems involving medical devices and licensed medicines. These data are also available for use in research.
The Independent Scientific Advisory Committee provides advice to MHRA on proposals for research using data from CPRD and the Yellow Card Scheme. ISAC reviews research applications for the use of CPRD and Yellow Card data. ISAC members advise CPRD and MHRA on scientific and methodological issues relating to all applications for the use of CPRD and Yellow Card data.
We are now looking for new expert scientific members to join ISAC. We are interested in applicants with considerable expertise in epidemiology, public health or medical specialties including child health, diabetes, primary care and pharmacology.
