Notice: Coastal Access in Cornwall from Newquay to Penzance: Natural England's proposals

On 20 June 2019, Natural England submitted a collection of reports to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs setting out the proposals for improved access to the coast between Newquay and Penzance.

The opportunity to comment closed at midnight on Thursday, 15 August 2019. You can no longer make a representation or objection on proposals.

All representations and objections were considered before the Secretary of State made a final decision about the reports.

You can:

  • read the overview report which includes background information to help you understand the proposals and maps
  • use the index map to find the relevant report for the length of coast you are interested in
  • open the corresponding report for more information

Outcome

On 18 August 2020, the Secretary of State approved the proposals for lengths NQP3, NQP4, NQP7 and NQP8. .

On 6 March 2020, the Secretary of State approved the proposals for lengths NQP1, NQP2, NQP5 and NQP6.

On 6 November 2024, sections NQP 1 (Newquay Station to Penhale Point) and NQP 2( Penhale Point to St Agnes Head) opened to the public.

Natural England will publish further details of the other approved sections in due course.
