Diabetic eye screening (DES) services can record information on the 9 protected characteristics described in the Equality Act 2010.
Accessibility requirements can also be recorded in line with the NHS Accessible Information Standard.
Collection of this information can help local DES services demonstrate performance against Commissioning for Quality and Innovation (CQUIN) goals if they are in place. The information will also provide services with data to determine if screening access and uptake is equitable across different groups and to identify where they need to make improvements if CQUINs are not in place.
