The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) is approved by the Secretary of State for Education to inspect registered independent schools belonging to the associations that make up the Independent Schools Council.

Ofsted is directed by The Department for Education (DfE) to monitor the work of the ISI. We publish an annual report on the number of inspections carried out and on the collaborative work between the 2 organisations.
