Official Statistics: Council Tax: stock of properties, 2024

This release provides statistics on the stock of domestic properties by Council Tax Band and property attributes in England and Wales. This publication includes annual statistics from 1993 to 2024. It also includes statistics showing the number of properties inserted into and deleted from the Council Tax Valuation Lists for 1993-94 to 2023-24.

A supplementary table showing the number of properties by Council Tax band and region, county and local authority district as at 15 September 2024 was added to this publication on 26 September 2024.

For further details on the information included in this release, including a glossary of terms and a variable list for the CSV format files, please refer to the background information document.

Table 2.1 has been included within this release showing Council Tax bands by 2024 parliamentary constituencies. These parliamentary constituencies were introduced following the 2024 General Election and will be reflected in the next release.

Any proposed changes to the 2025 publication will be published on the schedule of updates and announcements for VOAs statistics page.
